As as I can see, Norgate cannot be used as a data provider so far, right? And if so, when will this be available, please.
Thank you

Have you tried contacting the 3rd party developer directly with this question?

I see. It depends on them...
Ok, thank you. Will get in touch with them...

It's been almost 3 months since WL7 was released and still no extension from Norgate. Do the developers know if they're even working on it?

I’m in touch with Richard Dale from Norgate, he’s on our Discord and if you go on our Discord you could contact him directly too. They’ve had other priorities, but I’m trying to work something out with Norgate that would allow our team to build the extension.

Norgate Data has a nice plug-in for WL 6. They say the plug-in for 7 is under development... that was back in March. Do you have any visibility when it may become available? Is it even in beta by now? Thanks!

Zero progress. Perhaps some nudges from existing Norgate customers might wake them up again on this development?? Our team can try reaching out to them again too.

I am a subscriber of PremiumData/NorgateData since many years (great quality at a reasonable cost) and actually contacted them about becoming a beta tester, 3 weeks ago.

This was the reply:
QUOTE:

Work is currently underway in the background on a plugin for WL7, however at this stage I cannot say when it might be ready.

We have you down on our beta testing list and will let you know when there is something ready for testing.

In the meantime, the service is perfectly useable with CSV exported files. This is what I do:
- In Norgate’s software, I create watchlists for each subscribed database;
- I then create export jobs, that run after each update, to get the CSV files;
- Then, we can import them in WL7; and also create more granular Watchlists there.

It works pretty well and the plug-in won’t bring much added functionality - just extra convenience (and perhaps some performance gains accessing the data).

The extension would offer a number of new dynamic DataSets that account for symbols going into and out of the index on different dates, to guard against survivorship bias.

Indeed. That’a a very good point!

I didn’t think about it since I only use their continuous futures database.

20 year history of backtested data for all US stocks is what I'm waiting for haha

I just heard back from Norgate, they just completed some major new projects that have been consuming their efforts, but said they're going to get back to work on the WL7 extension soon!

Any updates on Norgate plugin or extension for Wealth lab 7 or 8?

We're still waiting for Norgate to build their Wealth-Lab 8 provider. If you are a Norgate customer the best is to ask them directly because it's beyond our control.

I even offered to build it for them but they declined, apparently they have some trade secrets they don’t want to give up.

I just pinged Norgate again on Discord. Would really like to see a Norgate extension for WL8 so any Norgate customers please email them to let them know you’re interested!

I did that last month: at the time, they replied that they believed that the release was not too far away, but that their development team kept being diverted to other things.

In the meantime, they added Mestastock export to the NDU application, which for me works pretty well after importing to WL. But I am not yet a customer of their stock packages and the extension would bring much more benefits for those (I only get futures and indices). Still, I would prefer the extension of course.

Just as a matter of interest which data do you need from Norgate? If it is survivorship you get for major indices with WealthData .

Good. IB data leaves a lot to be desired and TDA API is not available at the moment due to the Schwab merger...

Hello,

What is the status update on this, also is it possible for me to download and import the data manually in the meantime?

Thank you

It looks like the release is almost ready. But, if you really cannot wait, since the beginning that you can import into WL data exported from Norgate's NDU in CSV format; and, since more recently, also in Metastock format (in my experience more reliable; and maybe faster too).

An email from Norgate this morning..

"Hi Jim,

Behind the scenes there's been a lot of work done on this.

Work has progressed well on the WealthLab v8 extension and we expect to do a "soft" release in conjunction with Wealth Lab this week if all goes according to plan.

I'll let you know as soon as this has been released.
Best regards,"
