32 Gb on my desktop also. And I've faced memory exceptions a couple times).
Ryzen 3600 processor. WL7 works pretty fast, especially in comparison with my 5-year old fanless laptop)).
But there are still many processes that utilize only one core, so WL7 is quite single core speed dependant. So something like upcoming Intel 12-series processor would be a good choice.

Finantic optimizer options have reduced the optimization time and minimal freezes have occured for me.
I bought a dedicated desktop for this that has an i7 8 core 3.8Ghz processer with 16GB ram that works pretty well. I have been thinking about adding another 16GB more ram though. 8 or more cores helps utilize the multi threading power of WL7.
In my opinion if you have less than 8 cores processor I the optimization and backtesting efforts will likely be slower.
