I read that in the latest version similar genes were limited, although I still get these pictures, when a long running Evolver gives in the end only one strategy with minor changes

The idea was to remove conditions that were duplicates. The Evolver is always going to focus on evolving [from what came before]. If you don't like the result and want an entirely different strategy, then you start over.

One approach to handle this situation is suggested in this #FeatureRequest:

Other approaches would be:
* avoid incest: restrict the "sexual" exchange of genes between strategies which are too similar (no sex between close relatives)
* diversity: allow exchange of genes between more than the two top strategies (this one is also suggested in the genetic algorithms literature)
