Some strategies do not seem to ever generate sell signals in Strategy Manager Monitor and/or Scanner Screener, even though it is apparent that the strategies are selling stock in companies and buying new stock in different companies when backtesting or sometimes when the strategy is dropped on a specific stock chart. This was even the case when backtesting a strategy that did not set a sell condition. And some backtests seemed more favorable with no sell conditions than if I added a sell condition that should theoretically have improved performance, but it didn't. Could you explain a little about how do the sell signals work and what I might be seeing what seem to be anomalies? For instance, do the buy conditions somehow influence the sell conditions?

Could you be specific and present an example of what you think is a case of a Strategy holding on to a position and not generating an exit signal (if my understanding of the issue is correct)?

We need a concrete example of what you’re describing. In my experience the strategy always issues appropriate sell signals when they are added as Blocks or coded correctly.

That essentially makes it a "buy & hold" strategy. Generally, our goal is to beat buy & hold and if you can't create a strategy that does that, then there's no sense in trading.

Well you also need HINDSIGHT for that to work. I mean, if we had HINDSIGHT we'd all just have invested 100% in Bitcoin 10 years ago.

Thank you all very much.

After studying these issues more based on ya'll's comments, it appears that some of the issue was related to using dynamic databases, where a company that the strategy had stock in dropped out of the index, forcing the strategy to buy new stock to replace that stock that was no longer available, and some of the issue was related to an idiosyncrasy in Strategy Manager using live data that was fixed with the most recent build.

Thank you all again!
