I am all for Price Adjustment based on Splits and Special distributions but NOT for regular cash dividends. The latter will result in:
- progressively lower past prices which will: a) lead to increased # of shares in a position than one would have had in real life, b) affect price-based filters
- on backtesting if one checks the box for 'Collect Dividends on backtest Positions' then the results will be overstated

My 2 cents.

I agree too. And consistent with the description of the data at wealth-data.com, these adjustments are for special, non-regular cash distributions. The adjustments for Wealth-Data aren't negotiable.

DVN, for example, had a regular declared dividend on the same date for $0.18 (which the company increased by 2 cents), but the $1.37 is special.

You can eliminate the effect of splits using the SplitRev indicator. That's the whole purpose of the indicator.

A suggestion, if I may...

Include *all* items in the WealthData (WD) data stream - raw prices, splits, special & ordinary dividends, etc - and let the user reconstitute at their end, like so:

For that to happen you may have to create a separate subsection, or tab, just for WD to let the user decide how to adjust. It's a one-time effort but it will make everyone happy. (The WD event provider could be removed.)

Just throwing it out there...

It's not going to happen for Wealth-Data. But I certainly encourage you to prod Norgate to work on their adapter for Wealth-Lab 8. It's a shame it hasn't been done and we even offered to help.

@Sammy_G, can I ask where did you snap your screenshot on "Price Adjustment" from?

From Norgate Data API for WL6, as Eugene stated. Back then there was no API for WL8 by Norgate.
