How do you increase the number of decimal or precision for prices on a chart? Thanks.

You define symbols in the Markets and Symbols tool and provide each symbol its own decimal settings if needed.

Is there way to specify the number of decimals for a given data set, so that each time a symbol in that data set open in a chart, the right number of decimals are displayed without going through setting each symbol via the Market and Symbols tool?

In WLD6.9, we can set the number of decimals from the Preferences menu. Can we do something similar in WL7?

No, what market is your DataSet based on? You can see the market in the status bar.

what screen are you referring to? the only screen to see market info for a given symbol is in the Market and Symbols screen under Tools.

How do you assign market to a data set? When creating a new data set, it does not ask what market to be assigned to the data set.

Inside the Markets and Symbols/Symbols screen, what are the best default values to set the Point Value and Tick Size to? I am not quite understand their usages.

After modifying the Open Symbols.txt file, is there way to update it without restarting WL7? Thanks.

No, restarting WL7 is the only way to apply manual updates of that file.

tomphm, I understand the problem you're having and also think it would be helpful to assign an entire group of symbols to a market instead of one at a time.

I think it would help advance the discussion if you'd give a specific example of the symbols you need to set up and what market (and its details) that you need to assign the symbols to.

I am using the wild card, #... to set to all the symbols I am using and this resolves the number of decimals issue. What about the most suitable default settings for the Point Value and Tick Size? Thanks.

Not enough information.
Symbols, historic and streaming providers, symbol mappings?

I would like to be able to chart ANY 3 letter symbols (Axx, Bxx, ..., Zxx) with a higher precision than the default 2 decimal digits, can I use the symbol wild card format like this - XXX?
The data provider is IQFeed. When I try this approach, it seems to work with charting daily historical data but when I try to do streaming, it says "could not load historical data". Thanks.

Looks like IQFeed isn't checked on Historical Providers tab in the Data Manager?

Sorry Eugene, the exact error message is "Could not obtain historical data for symbol: XXX". The IQFeed box is always checked in the Historical Providers. It is only when I applied the wild cards in the Markets and Symbols, it gave me the error. And the error went away when the wild cards are removed.

I hear you. But this subject spans two discussions now. I believe your original question has been solved. Let's keep further troubleshooting in the other thread:

Thanks.
