Somehow I can't manage to save a custom indicator in my trial license...does the incator have to compile to save or what do I do?

Trial doesn't matter. It's explained in the Help. Custom indicators are accessed with elevated privileges (i.e. admin rights are required to start WL8 and use the indicator).
But yes, it has to "Compile OK" to enable the button to "Save to My Indicators Folder".
