When I close WL8 and I have a strategy activated and set to run at 7PM the system tells me that there are active strategies running.

I cannot close the program w/out having to reload the strategy monitor upon startup. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Did you save the Workspace (perhaps as Default) before closing WL?

@gbullr,
Are you saying that you responded "Yes" to this dialog and WealthLab did not shut down?

There are Active Strategies running. Are you sure you want to close this window?

Saved worspace as default.

Activate stragtety

Save workspace as default again

Close WL8 / Reopen

Strategy is not active.

Not exactly intuitive.

We decided that it was too dangerous to automatically activate SM Strategies upon loading a Workspace. Someone might get caught off guard and have orders submitted accidentally.

Now that you know you can simply activate them when loading the Workspace.

I want the strategies to run ever day to generate the alerts..

How do I do that.

1. Activate the strategy (or strategies) in the Strategy Monitor.
2. Click Auto-Place for each one you want to Auto-Trade

Important!
Don't close WealthLab

Procedure as I understand that you say can happen.
Start WL8:
Update Data
Re-activate all strategies (this would require that I write a script, because it is not done on the program's timer)
Run strategies
Show alerts
Close

Procedure as I want it:
Start WL8:
Update Data
Run strategies
Show alerts
Close

Is this description correct?

Another way is to simply start WL before the market, open the Workspace, and activate the Strategies. You should be able to spare one minute of attention to something as important as trading real money?

For full automation.

1. Enable this Auto-Reactivate Workspace option.

2. . Save the Workspace that has your Strategies Activated with Auto-Place. Let's call it gbWS.

3. Follow the instructions in the Help (F1) > Workspaces to program the Windows Task Scheduler to start and stop WealthLab.

A command line would look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Quantacula, LLC\WealthLab 8\WealthLab8.exe" /w "gbWS"

But the Task Scheduler has separate a field for the switch, so it will look like this there:

4. Test it by running it manually from the Task Scheduler before you trust it!

Notes:
➊ If the Task Scheduler won't run WealthLab, you need to either a) disable Administrator mode, or, b) check "Run with highest priveleges" in the General View.
➋ If you connect to IB TWS, make sure it's running before WealthLab starts.

To: Glitch. I use software to do stuff automatically not to do stuff by hand. But thanks for your opinion and input.

But software isn't perfect, and there could be different "glitches" around trading especially. It always amazes me how people wish to put zero effort and attention into the process :D

Zero effort? I have wasted days on getting all of my stuff that worked on WL6 on this new, wonderful, amazing system that one would think makes money out of thin air.

What amazes me is that software providers are so brain dead that they think it is reasonable to get their customers to waste thousands upon thousands of man hours by not making software backwars compatible. On second thought It doesn't actually amaze me because it creates "make work" for the software engineers community both at the customer and at the provider level, but in terms of being efficient for the customer it is certainly not.

But you are entitled to your opinion.

We were not able to make WL7+ backward compatible because WL6 is owned by Fidelity, so we needed to re-create everything from the ground up. Very sorry for your thousands of hours of effort migrating.

But please let's keep the vitriolic personal attacks ("brain dead?") off this forum.
