(I know that this was probably discussed WAY back in WL4 days, but those discussions are no longer available)

How was the WealthLab Score developed? What were the bases for its composition?

Thanks!

Vince, you might already know the formula but for those who'd stumble on this topic I can tell that it's documented in the Help > Metrics Report (can be found by searching for "score").

Hi Eugene!

Yes, I know the formula, but I was wondering how it was developed and what went into its "design"? I am looking to understand the thought process behind it.

You’re making me dredge up memories of 21 years ago! Ironically I was just looking at the old WL on the WayBack Machine. The old Marketcalls drove quite a bit of return traffic I feel, it gave people something to check back on every day. And look at that, TradingView must have got their idea for chart ideas from our old Marketcalls Commentaries!

WL Score was an attempt to distill a strategy performance into a single number that included exposure, such that two results being equal, the strategy with the lower exposure would have a higher score.

Glitch,

A good "dredge" every so often is a helpful exercise for the brain! ;)

Somehow I think the WLScore came about in the WL4 days, which makes it much sooner! ;) I remember a post by you on the Discussion Board about your rationale, but I also remember quite a bit of discussion about it. You might have modified your concept as a result; I don't remember. However...

I was looking to tap into your thought process about its design, and I think you have given me a bit of what I was looking to understand. Thanks!

BTW, that link was a real trip down memory lane! Perhaps you should consider re-instituting some of the features from that site, including rankings. Competition is good! :)

We were talking about what to revive earlier today. We’re close to adding one major feature to the web site and have ideas on how to intelligently incorporate other ideas as well. The months ahead should see some significant development on our new web site.
