Before I migrate from WL8.171 to WL9.x, I have a few questions:
1a. Strategies: Does WL9 simply clone the WL8 Strategies folder OR also modifies them for the new architecture?
1b. If cloned-and-modified:
i) Does that make them WL8-incompatible?
ii) If a strategy is modified in the future in WL8 is there an option in WL9 to re-import select (or All) strategies, or is it a one-and-done process and one will have to manually update them in WL9?
2. Workspaces & Custom Indicators: Are these copied over? (They have been painstakingly created).
3. It seems there's deep AI integration in WL9. Do the AI agents (current & future) have the ability to read a strategy's code (followed naturally by saving it on their systems)? Can this be turned off? It's my IP (Intellectual Property) after all and I'm not too keen on giving AI unrestricted access.
I couldn't find answers to these Qs by perusing other WL9-related threads so decided to create new one.

Rename
The migration from WL8 to WL9 is designed to be pretty painless.
- Strategies: WL9 copies your WL8 strategies during migration. It does not modify the original WL8 versions, so you can continue using WL8 normally. After migration, the WL8 and WL9 copies are independent. If you subsequently change a strategy in WL8, that change isn't automatically synchronized to WL9, so you'd need to bring the updated strategy over again (you can even drag Strategies from WL8 and drop them into WL9).
- Workspaces and Custom Indicators: These are migrated as well. We definitely didn't want users having to recreate all of that work manually.
- AI and strategy code: The AI integration in WL9 is entirely optional. WealthLab does not automatically send your strategies or proprietary code to an AI service. An AI only gets access to strategy code when you explicitly use functionality that requires providing that code to the AI. You can simply not use those features if you don't want your code submitted to an external AI provider.
So there's no requirement to expose your IP to AI in order to use WL9. You can use WL9 essentially as you use WL8 today without using the AI features at all.

If one does provide access, is it: One-time only/ for entire session (closing WLab revokes access) / permanently and for *all* strategies?
The AI integration does not automatically have access to your strategies or code. Access is provided through WealthLab's MCP service, so you must actively connect an external AI such as Claude to WealthLab. Once you do connect an AI through MCP, however, it can access the strategy roster and strategy code exposed by the MCP service. So if protecting that IP is a concern, simply don't connect an AI to WealthLab through MCP. WL9 itself does not automatically send your strategy code to an AI service.
