I am using TD Ameritrade. I went to close a group of positions. Somehow the orders got converted from a sell at market to a close at the market.
I had to cover all of them.
Please make it so that that can't happen.
Thanks

Please let us know more about how you went to close the group of positions.
From a Strategy? Accounts tool? Ad-hoc manually staged orders from the Order Manager?
If you use one of the PortfolioSync preferences, a Strategy won't be able to "sell" positions you don't own in your account.
Manual orders are not checked. If TD interprets a Sell as a short because you don't own the Position, we can't prevent that.

Hi,
I was in the accounts window, highlighted a bunch and pressed close positions. I must have pressed it twice so it put in 2 orders, the first closed the positions and the second shorted them all.
I.e. it "closed" positions that weren't present in the account when the orders were placed.
Thanks

I see. Thanks.
We can probably do something about disabling the Position after hitting ClosePosition.
