Since the upgrade to WL8 B28, the Strategy Evolver pauses always at Generation 2. Is there an Evolver log available to get some more details?

There is an "Log" tab right to the "Evolver" tab in Strategy Evolver.

Furthermore you can go WL8->Tools->Log Viewer.

Let us know if these windows show something interesting.

Did you upgrade all active Extensions?

Also: Try again with disabled Filter Set....

The log wasn't helpful, only the time used to run the evolver was displayed. But your suspicion of the Evolver filter was correct. Thanks!
I'm just wondering what's so complicated about it since its purpose is to dispose the trash?

Just getting a Sharpe Ratio above 1 is difficult in and of itself.

Exactly the same combination under WL8 B26. Runs without any issues...

That build could possibly be letting some de-selected genes in, it has that flaw.

This Evolver filter combination doesn't work, even if I remove only a single element. I have to delete all 3 metrics for the evolver to run over Gen 2....

Is there a logical explanation? All I want is to exclude the trash during calculation...

Yes.

In generation 1 the evolver starts with some mediocre strategies.
After this it improves from generation to generation.

But if your filters allow just for "real good" strategies it filters out all the "mediocre" first trials from generation 1....

.... and the evolver has nothing more to work with.

It could be a #FeatureRequest to create a completely new seed of random strategies in this case....
.... but I doubt if this is a good way to proceed.

After all the history of human beings started with some form of monkeys.
If you killed everything more dump than Forest Gump in the beginning, then Einstein would never have come to existence...

Yes, what's happening is that if a run produces zero results it's producing an error that the Evolver can't recover from. I'm working on a fix but for now relax that filter somewhat so you can get at least some result in the first run.

Thanks for the explanation.

This makes sense, as the generation process has to develop first. With my "hardening", I restrict it so that the development cannot be started at all. Consequently, I will adjust my filters.
