1. Check the downloadable file with historical data at Yahoo. This table has no use in WL and cannot be used as a proof.
2. ^GSPC returns null in Historical Data Testbed.
3. Try a different data vendor.

What's that?

pichu_1972, who's your broker?
If integrated with WL, that's probably a more reliable source for Daily data. e.g., IB has it as SPX.

Yes it is IB, but I need tickers like NYSE Composite Index

Find the contract required in IB and make sure there's a appropriate record for it in IBContracts.txt in the User Data folder. These should already be there:

CODE:
INDU=INDU|USD|IND|CME||DJI NDX=NDX|USD|IND|NASDAQ||NDX|||0| SPX=SPX|USD|IND|CBOE||SPX|||0| NYA=NYA|USD|IND|PSE||NYA|||0| << NYSE Composite RUT=RUT|USD|IND|RUSSELL||RUT|||0| VIX=VIX|USD|IND|CBOE||VIX|||0| VIX1Y=VIX1Y|USD|IND|CBOE||VIX1Y|||0| VIX3M=VIX3M|USD|IND|CBOE||VIX3M|||0| VIX6M=VIX6M|USD|IND|CBOE||VIX6M|||0| VIX9D=VIX9D|USD|IND|CBOE||VIX9D|||0| VIXC=VIXC|CAD|IND|TSE||VIXC|||0| VIXM.IV=VIXM.IV|USD|IND|PSE||VIXM.IV|||0| VIXMO=VIXMO|USD|IND|CBOE||VIXMO|||0| VIXY.IV=VIXY.IV|USD|IND|PSE||VIXY.IV|||0| BKX=BKX|USD|IND|PHLX||BKX|||0| BANK=BANK|USD|IND|NASDAQ||BANK|||0| TICK-AMEX=TICK-AMEX|USD|IND|AMEX||TICK-AMEX|||0| TICK-NDX=TICK-NDX|USD|IND|NASDAQ||TICK-NDX|||0| TICK-NASD=TICK-NASD|USD|IND|NASDAQ||TICK-NASD|||0| TICK-ARCA=TICK-ARCA|USD|IND|ARCA||TICK-ARCA|||0| TICK-ASX=TICK-ASX|AUD|IND|ASX||TICK-ASX|||0| TICK-BM=TICK-BM|EUR|IND|BM||TICK-BM|||0| TICK-IBIS=TICK-IBIS|EUR|IND|IBIS||TICK-IBIS|||0| TICK-SBF=TICK-SBF|EUR|IND|SBF||TICK-SBF|||0| TICK-TSE=TICK-TSE|CAD|IND|TSE||TICK-TSE|||0|
You may need to add subscriptions for some of these.

You said, "1. Check the downloadable file with historical data at Yahoo."

Where would someone do that?

A "Download" button is used to sit there for decades but apparently this feature is deprecated after latest redesign.

Is anybody having any issues with Yahoo symbols not getting updated past 8/30/2024? I've tried forcing updates in the Data Manger but nothing past 8/30.

Same for me. At least this time it's not just Europe.
For a reliable free source, switch to Wealth-Data and Q-Data.

Is there a reliable place to get mutual fund data? I could only find it on Yahoo.

I have the same problem with Yahoo information.
I need a data source for Brazilian shares.

The download button has appeared again, but this is what you get when you press it:

{"finance":{"result":null,"error":{"code":"forbidden","description":"User is not subscribed to Premium or has invalid cookies"}}}

Apparently Yahoo has changed something (in light of making this Premium sub pitch). Someone should look into the changed handling of cookies. There may be room for improvement.

I can confirm that my Fidelity Select Sector funds have not been updated since 9/4/2024 via the Yahoo historical data provider. The WL Log Viewer does not show any error messages. Perhaps it should.

If someone knows of an alternative free provider that includes Fidelity mutual fund data, please suggest it.

I have the same update problem from Yahoo. no update after September 5th. Exploring finance.Yahoo website I found a lot of general info; like last quotes per symbol. Clicking on a symbol does not give the historical quotes, but logging in with an account does give the historical quotes. But I could not find the button for download historical quotes. Update so far. I hope this info can help to get an working yahoo data provider again

Unfortunately, Yahoo made changes on their site preventing WL8 from obtaining the data. We're working to see if we can adapt WL8 to work with Yahoo again, stay tuned!

Yes, it's a global issue. Yahoo changed their back-end servers so we have to adapt to the change. We have a change we're currently testing which will be in the next Build.

Had the same WL8-problems with Yahoo Finance data as mentioned above. As I am using not just WL8 but also other tools there was the same problem. Meanwhile they have fixed the problem and downloading international indices, stocks, etfs, forex, cryptos or futures works fine. So it will just be a matter of time when WL8 downloads works fine, too...

After latest WL8 update some indices and futures not updating such as CL=F DX=F ^TNX ect

We'll look at it, but you may need to find another source for those.
btw, Yahoo! data for futures is AWEFUL. You should never even look at it, imho.

Edit - actually, I think I see what could be wrong, so thanks for the heads up.

I solved the problem of stock information in Brazil by hiring the service of eodhd.com
This is not the first time that Wealth-Lab has had problems with Yahoo.

And it won't be the last! We've been doing this for about 25 years, and Yahoo1 breaks this free service on purpose and unannounced at least once every year and all the clients have to research and adapt to undocumented changes, which we did.

Bottom line:
You should never depend on Yahoo! for your trading.
