Hi All,
I'm trying to apply an SMA to OBV in the Building Block Strategy builder, but it doesn't look like you can put an indicator on an indicator there. Am I missing something or is this not possible?

Ideally, I would like to test whether a positive slope OBV trendline can help filter out bad trades. I understand that OBV (bar) > OBV(bar-n) is essentially the same (and can be achieved in block builder), but I would like to use a trendline instead, so I can easily spot a positive slope SMA (or EMA, etc.) when doing a quick glance at a chart.

Sorry if this is obvious or has been already covered somewhere else, and thanks!
Ben.

Hi,

Yes you can do it and even more. Look for Transformer indicators which let one have a lot of fun with indicators: perform math operations, compress into higher scale, offset, smooth and finally use external symbol. For example, drag SmoothInd onto the "Indicator" field of a Block to smooth say RSI with SMA.

You can accomplish this using the SmoothInd Transformer Indicator:
