I am trying to auto day trade with TD. but TD does not allow a position reverse.
That is a close and buy/short at the same time. Is there a way to delay the buy/short for a few seconds after the close?

You can't "oversell" a position to reverse, if that's what you mean. Are you placing 2 separate orders, exit and entry?

1. You said "buy/short" twice. To reverse it should be "Cover + Buy" or "Sell + Short" .
2. Why after the close?

@giorgos Yes, you can perform an immediate (Technically) reverse in TDA. It's in the AutoTrader tab. SImply customize your selections there to include that buttom.

just to clarify as an example.

I have a long position 100 share of SPY

I get a signal sell 100 shares SPY at market and short 100 shares SPY at market. Both are sent to TD at the same time.

TD rejects this order as account not allowed to box trade.

If position can be closed first and a few seconds later new position trade is initiated, it can avoid box restriction. I don't know if this is possible.

Then it won't be possible with TD, currently. Maybe this situation will improve after the transition to Schwab. It seems odd that it wouldn't be allowed in a margin account. What's the error that gets logged?

It would be possible (a feature request) that WL wait for a fill before sending the opposite order, but that would just add delay to the brokers that don't require it.

I have TDA account with margin. In ThinkOrSwim, on the Active Trader tab, if I have 'auto send' checked, and the number of shares set exactly to what I have in the equity, then if I hit Reverse it ALWAYS errors out. I haven't found any solution on the net. So, if TDA's own tool errors, then I don't know what the solution would be in WL other than to wait for the next bar after closing the position. Obviously, that's not what is wanted. I'm not asking for a solution, but just letting you know my experience with Reverse.

Let's wait to see what happens after the Schwab integration and come back to it.
