It depends on the market. See Tools > Markets and Symbols. You can define own markets with custom Display Decimals.
For indicators: The chart will automatically expand the decimals as needed. For an axis with labels in blocks of 50, the chart determined that the default 2 decimals was enough.
It would be nice to have the user override default decimal options, as per their preference.

Automation makes it convenient, being able to override makes it flexible - as always).

Timeseries precision is attention drawing and being able to set font is a very important feature, isn't it?))
One thing I've learned, just because I don't think something is important doesn't mean other users think the same thing! The default decimal override will get implemented as soon as it rises to the top of the requested features.

I've referred to feature requests about font. That (as for me) is the last thing that can help with your algo trading).
