Been using Wealth lab for a few months now and I really love it.

Except for one thing...

Unfortunately, wealth lab doesn't offer a customizable UI.

Most active traders have large screens. So do I. But instead of being able to use all the screen estate I have available the information is now on all these different tabs I have to keep clicking. It's like having a huge cook-top where only one element at a time can be used and you have to keep switching pans all the time. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating here. But it's what you're continuously doing - switching tabs - all the time.

I would love to be able to arrange my screen with dockable and resizable windows on it all open at the same time. So I can have an instant overview of all the information I'm interested in.

Something like MS Visual Studio offers. Or what can be created with
https://www.devexpress.com/products/net/controls/winforms/docking/
(I have no experience with that library. Just pointing it out as an example)

Thanks for considering it. It would give your already great product a great new look and a much better user experience.

Wealth-Lab does not aim to be Visual Studio but you can do most of that with Workspaces: group tools and windows into multiple Workspaces, rearrange and dock them to screens.

I don't understand how to do that with workspaces.

What I mean is, I would love to see this:

Instead of this:

This is not going to happen. It's completely unrealistic to expect something like different tabs of same Strategy window to be torn apart. From any perspective, from practical and especially business/resources wise. So I suggested what can be done.

Maybe when we’re ready to do a complete full version overhaul to WL9 we can consider this kind of makeover.

What @PeterdeLaat provided as an example reminds me of TWS on steroids. But I'm not a fan of TWS.

Fidelity has an interesting approach with their Active Trader Pro interface where you can "float" (undock) most windows and lay them out as you like and then save the layout. (They have significant functionality dedicated to making nice layouts easier to create.) However, this is a proprietary app and I would suggest going with the most modern Web-based approaches for providing an interface.

WL is not primarily a dashboard, It's primarily a development and backtesting platform (and increasingly a live trading platform).

The biggest enhancement I would like to see is the ability to float strategy windows. I have multiple screens, but it's a hack to spread the WL app over multiple screens (which works, BTW) especially when you have screens with different resolutions. It's challenging to compare code or backtest results from 3 different SW's that end up being on top of each other and hiding each other.

Finally, I agree with @Glitch comment. Although none of the underlying core of WL would be affected, this is a major undertaking. And not primarily technically. UI design is an art in itself, and it is not easy to get a good, user-friendly design. Mock-ups and user feedback is the way most modern dev orgs approach UI design.

in my professional experience of managing these projects they inevitably require multiple iterations with a dedicated development (and user) team.

Have you seen the ability to open a "New Main Window" from the File menu? This would let you spread Strategy windows out more.

Believe it or not, no. That looks like it will be a big help!

Yes. Love that too. Works especially well during live sessions.
