Hello,

Can I Install WL on a mini Samsung Tablet or another brand? Is there a minimum of RAM and GB needed?

Thanks,

John

You need a Windows Tablet - any brand that runs Windows 10 or 11.
16GB RAM minimum, but it depends on what you intend to do with it.

Thanks Cone.

What do you mean by "it depends on what you want to do"?

For example, if you want to do a huge backtest with 1-minute bars, you might need a lot more memory than 16GB.

In addition, a tablet computer isn't going to have a huge L3 on-chip processor cache. As a result, WL may run so dog slow on such a processor that doing a parameter optimization on it may take days. But report back with your results.

Also tell us how large your L3 processor cache is on your tablet. Usually these tablet processors are optimized for longer battery life, not high capacity processor caches.

Thanks for your answers. Since I would only monitor prices to enter a new position (no backtest or optimization) on Fidelity website trading dashboard or Activetrader pro on my PC and I want something small to be able to carry easily everywhere, the best option could be Samsung galaxy 9 (8.7 screen) and use RemotePC by drive to access my PC. Any comments or suggestions about this setup?

I found this iPad mini (7ª gen.) 128GB Wi-Fi which would allow me not to carry my iPhone,

Sounds like you wouldn't need to install WL on your tablet machine in the first place.

Did you know you can have WL send stock signals to either your email or instant messaging app? The sendmail capability is built in WL. For the instant messaging feature, you'll need to compile a library and call it. Check the forum for how.

As long as you're not backtesting and especially parameter optimizing on WL, I think you'll be okay. But if you're not backtesting, then what's the point of having WL on there in the first place?

Hello Superticker,

Thanks for your valuable feedback.

I could not find any info on the instant messaging app.

I would like to receive the order manager signals on an instant messaging app (Mac mini tablet 7 2024) as they come (if possible only the ones when the price differs from the previous ones to avoid getting them every minute which can be confusing). Could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks again.

There are many many public domain instant massaging apps. Just go on the web and search. You will need to build their library and install that DLL in the WL install folder. Then you can have your strategy call it when there's a signal.

A quick forum search finds one about SlackBot, but wouldn't that be an overkill? Why not use something simpler unless you need to inform an entire user community.

There are code libraries that will allow you to send Twitter (or X) messages. Maybe one of those would be better.

There are Internet services that will convert an email into an SMS message. Would that work for you? https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/email-to-sms/ If you're going that route, check out https://www.wealth-lab.com/Discussion/How-to-Send-a-Triggered-Alert-to-Text-Message-on-Phone-10314

Just remember, the simplest solution is the best solution. And with so many instant messaging services out there, it's easy to overdo it.
