I imported a MetaStock database and I wanted to know how to separate the assets into different bases. I imported 360 assets, but I want the portfolio backtest to use only a fraction of these assets. I would like to subdivide them into smaller portfolios. I can't do this when importing data because the database doesn't identify the file for each stock; the files are called data1, data2, data3,...

Go to the Data Manager, Historical Providers tab, and make sure your MetaStock DataSet has its check box checked. Also you might want to drag it to the top of the list so WL8 checks it first when requesting symbol data.
Next, create one or more UNLINKED DataSets with any combination of symbols you want to backtest. WL8 will get the data from your MetaStock DataSet since it's in top priority in the Data Manager.
