I just downloaded the Finantic optimizer extension, rebooted laptop, but it still doesn't show under "extensions"?

It will show up under available Strategy Optimizers when you optimize a strategy, not in the Extensions menu.
Is this what you mean? How do I select the "SMAC" option?

No, look up Optimization in the help to learn how to optimize a Strategy. When you get to the optimization interface, you see a drop down that offers a selection of Optimizers. SMAC will be amongst them.
