A small feature request. So far I have not found out if/how it is possible.

Do you think it is possible to enable a more detailed/configurable folder structure in the dataset context ("My Datasets")? I think the why is self-explanatory.

Of course it’s possible, but at this point it’s just a question of priorities. With 120+ feature requests it’s challenging to manage. This one isn’t complicated, but neither is it such low hanging fruit that it could be completed in a few hours of work like some of the quick ones we do.

First, you can already "Set Data Folder Location" through File menu.

What do you mean by "configurable"? The point is of course not self-explanatory to me at all. (Whatever happens in the folder is in the hands of the data providers and isn't meant to be user-configurable.)

Ok, I did not describe well what I meant. I would like to have/create subfolders in the context of "MyDatasets" to organise them better. The list gets longer and longer. So i did not mean configuration but creating/deleting subfolders like in the strategy context.

Now I see what you mean, thanks for clarifying. As always, there will be unnecessary complications, side effects and possible bugs if we try to support Subfolders there.

Consider this: that list is integrated within (shared with) other parts of the WL GUI, such as the Strategy Monitor or Strategy Settings (DataSet selection). There's hardly a room for such flexible organization there, that would make the dialogs look cumbersome. On the other hand, not making the new subfolder feature appear there there as well (i.e. not be universal) would look inconsistent.

So if you're trying to hide your less used DataSets, consider shutting down WL and moving their *.xml files elsewhere. They're stored in this folder by default:

c:\Users\%Windows username%\AppData\Roaming\WealthLab8\DataSets\
