You’d copy the entire User Data Folder (open it via the File menu.)

When you say entire User Data Folder is that Quantacula.LLC > WealthLab8 folder?
The full WealthLab folder including all folders and .dll files need to be replaced? As in image below ?

No, that's absolutely wrong folder. See the FILE menu in WL8.

Can you show me a link how to do this process? I could not find it in the Help files in the WL8 menus. I don't want to overwrite files that are not supposed to. Thanks.

Right. Go to the WL8 FILE menu and select "Open Wealth-Lab User Data Folder". That's the folder you want to copy to the second computer in the same directory location.

There might be a tricky way to mirror this folder if you can store a common copy on an enterprise server (roaming profile). If not, there may be another way to mirror it between Windows computers using a mirroring utility. This would be a good question for a Windows OS forum. Some backup utilities (and services) support folder mirroring.

When I go to FILE menu and select "Open Wealth-Lab User Data Folder".
I get this Windows Explorer page. See below.

Any of the files below AppData > Roaming > WealthLab8? All the folders and files under WealthLab8 should be copied?

Absolutely. All those folders contain your specific configuration. And if you're using your backup utility to mirror changes between computers, you want to mirror this entire user environment. Be sure no WL application is running (all WL config files closed) when your backup utility is mirroring so changes are made atomically (all folder elements synchronized altogether).

Thanks for the clarification. So if I only wanted to copy/paste the workspaces and my custom indicators that won't work? It has to be the full WealthLab8 folder?

If any part of this environment is not kept atomic, you risk corrupting WL's environment. But if your computer dies while WL has files open, WL may not recover. To get WL working again, you need to restore this main User folder from your latest backup. If you're using two computers mirroring, you can have one computer backup the other. Just be sure all the WL files are closed during the mirroring process.

Bottom line, WL will flush its configuration files occasionally (i.e. take a check point like MS Word), but that's it. And most PC programs work this way.

I'm also in the process of transferring my data to a new computer.

I installed the software, extension, on the new computer first. Then copied the entire folder according to the instructions above. But currently running into 2 problems:

when opening the software there is an error reported about the trading strategy.

I don't know if I have made a mistake somewhere.

I just quickly tested doing an Export/Import using your strategy naming pattern with name starting with '.-' and it worked. So you probably made another mistake, like lost some component if this is a MetaStrategy (for example).

Hi Eugene, thanks for the tip.I checked again, files starting with “._”are hidden files. I'm not sure if they are cache or files generated during the transfer process.

I adjusted the settings to show hidden files and deleted these files, after which there were no more errors.

Also the strategy files all seem to be running fine so far as well. Below are the screenshots, just in case someone else has the same question.

These are not Wealth-Lab generated files, apparently created by 3rd party software. I'd turn it off and delete all of these files before continuing.
