I use the following tools very frequently:
*New Strategy Ranking Window
*New Strategy Genetic Evolver Window

When I use the Ranking Window, I usually have over 1000 strategies that I'm comparing, and that eats memory.

When using the Evolver Window, it might run all night, only to crash upon/before finishing.

I have only 32GB of RAM, but plenty of disk space. I also have a separate 2TB USB drive attached to that same laptop. So, I thought that if I increased my RAM access (one way or another) via an increase in Virtual Memory on a Hard Drive, that perhaps this would help with Ranking and/or Evolver processing speed.

Anyone else out there with experience for sharing with this ?
Thx

If your processing causes a lot swapping in/out of virtual memory it may slow to a crawl. There are a lot of variables here. If I had to guess, from what you described, its going to swap a lot. I'd try what you described, and if it doesn't meet your requirements then increase the memory from 32GB to 64GB and go from there. Also, consider if you really need to use 1000 strategies to achieve your goal.

From experience, my old machine had 32GB and it ran into memory issues occasionally. With 64 GB I've never had a memory issue. However, I doubt my strategy processing was as demanding as what you described.
