Hello, this is a feature request. Partial bars at daily scale. Distinct from streaming. Same behavior and cosmetics as WL v6.

The danger of using partial bars is well known, i.e., that's not what was back tested in developing a strategy, but I find many other useful purposes for partial bars, not the least of which is following open trades (that may be impacted by macro news events, etc., inviting manual action outside the purely indicator-based strategy).

The Wealth-Lab 7 data providers are now stripping the daily partial bar out of the data. They should conform to this guideline and behave uniformly.

Can you expand on what you're trying to accomplish with partial bars? What are those "useful purposes" specifically? We see this as a source of confusion which can and will lead to changed indicator readings and missed trades i.e. havoc.

Hi Eugene, here are some use cases for me. Thanks.

* Run near close of market, as a preview for after-market-close signals. I may enter a trade if it's clear a signal will be thrown after close of market. This is my most common use case (and, yes, I know the downsides or trading on partial-day info).

* Visually monitoring and checking open trades, particularly those that were the subject of macro or news events. I.e., trade war, pandemic news, etc.. I'll check the partial bar to see what the impact is on the partial candlestick and the indicators in my strategy. I do this often in WL v6.

* Similar to above, if a related company issued an earning release or otherwise heavy PR, sometimes it impacts a whole industry. Partial bars provide a nice way to see how that shaping up during the day by viewing the partial-day candlestick and its indicators.

Hi Tom,

The Wealth-Lab 7 way to run near close of market is with the added support for MarketClose (MOC) orders. You can configure in Trading Preferences how many minutes before market close to send them to your broker. Before this time they are held in WaitForClose status. You can find more information in the Help.

The rest concerns discretionary trading and brings more confusion so it does not fit the new model. 🤷
