Improvement
When hidden, reduce the activation area to just a few pixels from the top border and then remain active while the pointer hovers over any part of the toolbar.

Discussion
The activation area is two full toolbar widths from the top of the chart pane - it's way too much. In a bull market we're often doing things with bars near the top and the flickering requires another click to lock visibility and then another to hide it again.

Ideally, and in addition to reducing the activation area, there could be a 100 to 200 msec timer that triggered the visibility when the pointer was "in-the-zone".

More brainstorming ideas:

1. Instead of just reducing the activation width, reduce the area to the top left corner so that the toolbar pops down when approximately hovering over the date area (or some symbol, like '+', to the left of the date).

2. Make the initial activation area the title bar of the window?

For both 1 and 2, once the toolbar is activated, the current activation area could be set to keep the toolbar showing while making selections.

3. Optionally, move the toolbar to bottom. If there were a way to bump where it appears, it would be a big improvement.

Cone's option #2 is simple and effective. Gets my vote!

"Show" Event Behavior... Cursor crosses "down" from Title Bar. Detect the cursor in the top 2 or 3 pixel rows. A slow moving cursor will likely always be captured.

"Hide" Event Behavior - Perfect the way it is. Cursor below Toolbar Bottom Boarder.

I shortened the threshold, but doing anything like showing the auto-hidden chart toolbar when the mouse moves over the window title bar is too problematic. We can't even be sure a chart has a title bar (PriceGrid Evolver window for example.)
