Hi all - I'm trying to understand how a max drawdown calculation for a combined long/short strategy can return a lower overall drawdown % when both the long and short drawdown % levels are higher. Here's an example:

Why not? If the long and short strategy components have a negative (inverse) correlation, the combined figure can be less as one supports another.
