Commission is now controlled via Preferences -> Backtest -> Commission/Interest. But. Different markets may have diferent commission type or size. Preferences looks like a place for settings like "set and forget". But you need to change commission size or type quite often. E.g. you need to backtest without commission first, than on stocks than futures (you may have a very different commission type on futures and stocks), what if a strategy works on FOREX? - Commissions will be different again. What if you could create commission presets in Preferenses. You create a preset with the name you want, like "Russian stocks", you set commission type and value (and minimum value) etc. And then you select a preset out of this list in Strategy -> Strategy Settings -> Backtest Data.

We already have a feature request to associate commission with specific markets or symbols:

Ok, but I do not have enough control on associating datasets and markets. My Finam datasets will all be MOEX. My ASCII will all be US Stocks etc. And I'll still need to go to Preferences to set zero commissions, and I'm almost sure I'll forget to get it turned on back.

This feature request would be a tradeoff between the complexity of changes and an added value.

I can live without being able to turn on and off commission without going to Preferences. But what about dataset and market association feature you've mentioned? Looks like different market -> different commission feature will not help me at all (if not make it worse) in this case.

Not many users actually trade multiple markets to justify the complexity of changes that an idea like custom commission presets would imply. That's why there should be a tradeoff. The existing request leans towards the side of simplicity and clarity, IMHO.

Ok, make dataset-market association work better and I'll just be waiting patiently for the previous request (market-commissions association) to be implemented))
