Is there any experience which VPS hosting providers are technically suitable to host a WL 8 instance?

Here are some that are popular in Germany / Europe:
Strato
IONOS
Hosteurope
Contabo
Domainfactory

Before going the VPS route, you should also consider the alternative of having your own PC (or a secondary lower-spec one), always on, reachable from the Internet with RDP. If you have a decent internet connection with a good upstream speed, you will almost certainly have a better experience and much cheaper than any equivalent VPS solution.

This is what I do actually: I setup a “trading computer”, that is always on, reachable via RDP, through a VPN. I’ve tried accessing it from different countries while travelling; either from a Laptop (Mac), iPad or even iPhone when desperate; and the experience is fantastic.

For comparison, in my daily job, my company assigned me a relatively expensive Citrix VDI with CPU:8vCores/RAM:32GB/SSD:256GB; and the experience is mediocre in comparison; plus it most likely costs several hundred euros a year!

I've been using a micro-small HP EliteDesk 800 G3 Mini for almost 5 years. I connect it via secure VPN and RDP when I'm outside. The Mini Desk is also connected to a small UPS (power strip) that can bridge a 20-30 minute power outage.

The Mini-Desk has one more benefit. When I go abroad for several months, I simply pack it in my hand luggage to get it re-located.

Advantage: You have your own "isolated security boundary".
Disadvantage: You have to patch the box regularly by yourself.

This could be an alternative. However, I am not a hardware hobbyist. I would have to find a ready configured PC.
When looking for fanless, fast CPU and 64 GB RAM, the selection gets thin quickly.
It should be a PC / VPS that is good for travel work but also has a good performance for testing and optimization.

If you check the price of maintaining a VPS instance, with Windows (required for WL), and those 64GB of RAM that you seek, you are probably close to 100€/month. In just 1 year, you'll finish having paid more than a proper pre-built small, fanless dedicated PC. At the time I ended up building my own, but you can find sites like QuietPC.com, who does the work for you (with a premium, of course). Even the Intel NUCs or ASUS PN series are great: tiny, more than enough power, competitively priced (although not fanless).

I use GoTo Pro (formerly LogMeIn) as Remote Access solution. Actually, there are much cheaper solutions available, like Splashtop or AnyDesk, that are equivalent to GoTo Pro or even free solutions like Chrome Remote Desktop.

Does anyone here have any experience with these remote access solutions?

I use the default RDP server of windows and access the computer using Microsoft’s RDP client, which is also available for MacOS and iOS (I have even used it from an iPhone a few times). Works great and is 100% free.

However, if you are not accessing it from the same network (most likely), you would need to open the ports in the firewall. Instead, I have my router setup for VPN access and I connect to that VPN remotely, which basically puts my client device in the same network of the router (and target PC).

Default RDP is out of question, since I can't configure port forwarding on the router. However, I'm using it on the LAN.

GoTo Pro is very professional but also expensive, compared to the price-performance ratio with their competition. I will probably take a closer look at Splashtop and the open source version of Wireguard.

Splashtop is a solution without many bells and whistles, simply works and performs great. It's also a choice for less tech-savvy users. Wireguard, on the other hand, is more for tech-savvy users. That's my perception so far...
