Several times a day over the past several days, streaming data is being lost and does not reconnect. This is seen in both streaming charts and in the SM being unable to update data (thus eliminating signals). The only way I found to get it working again is to restart WL. It appears that WL does not monitor a streaming "heartbeat" and reconnect automatically.

This has happened a half dozen times today. I have to keep watching the screen to see if it's alive.

Using Tradier streaming data, but I suspect this is unrelated to current Tradier issues, or even Tradier. I've had these problems with IB, and TDA in the past. I had it with Medved until @Glitch put in a "heartbeat" check that reconnected the extension (not sure if that is technically relevant to this issue.)

I previously reported this issue here.

The problems are:
1. WL doesn't know that it disconnected
2. WL does not auto-reconnect

I may have a clue to this. When I click "Request Updates..." chart streaming stops. It usually starts up when update is completed. But when I click "Request Updates..." right after a trade that didn't make it to the Accounts window (all of them), it sometimes doesn't start streaming again. I've noted this twice in a row today. Maybe my frequent updates are related to the frequent disconnects.

I have been using Yahoo! streaming (1-min bars) for a few weeks without any disconnects. After the release of Tradier B28, I went back to Tradier streaming. I have been getting random disconnects and it won't reconnect.

Did the "heartbeat" fix in Tradier B28 also monitor the streaming connection, or was that only for the application layer? Does WL have heartbeat detection for the streaming connection?

The same logic is in place for the streaming connection, but it should never be required during market hours. That's because streaming automatically subscribes to QQQ (or SPY) so that there is a constant flow of information. While connected after hours, then the heartbeat would come into play.

In either case, if the connection drops, it's most likely that it occurred due to a internet dropout. In that cause, the connection will automatically attempt reconnect continually until it recovers.

What's the message, precisely, that you're seeing for the reconnect attempt?

For this scenario, I do not see a reconnect attempt in the log viewer, but the SM log window for the strategy messages something like, "Update failed 0 symbols updated" after each bar. (I'll add the exact message next time it happens here.)

If it's reconnecting, there will be messages in the Log Viewer and Order Manager .

No reconnect messages there. So, I guess it's not attempting to reconnect.

If it gets to the "too many connections" response, it quits trying - logically.
