Hi!

Not sure if anyone else has encountered this type of error after acitvating a strategy?

From the log file:
[b]7/16/2024 05:07:27: Exception: One or more errors occurred. (One or more errors occurred. (No such host is known. (qdata.wealth-data.com:80)))

Could it be related to the symbol?

Here is the complete log file:

Hi Michael,

You're having a network issue while reaching to our Q-Data service, and it's on your end. Go to Data Manager > Historical Providers and select Q-Data, then try to load data for COPP in the Testbed. Any difference?

Hi Eugene!

Q-data was already activated and the testbed worked and retrieved COPP data. Two things to note, 1) Q-data was placed below my broker in order of preference and I have now moved Q data to the top 2) I noticed my broker, Alpaca did not retrieve data in the testbed for any symbols.

After clicking updata Alpaca data I seen a message:

Updating Provider: Alpaca
Please choose desired bar scales and update provider DataSet(s) first
Historical Provider Update completed.

I am not sure this information is relevant to the discussion.

Kind regards,
Michael

The WL message you're getting is self-explanatory. Just follow it and update your Alpaca DataSet(s) one by one to "train" the bulk data update to make it "learn" your stocks and bar scales.

Re: "train" to "learn".
It's a roundabout way of saying that for a "scheduled update" or "Provider update" to work, you must have some data to update.

You can do that by either:
1. Putting your preferred provider at the top and running a backtest.
2. Or more directly by:
a. clicking on the [linked-to-provider] DataSet in the Data Manager.
b. selecting the Scale you want data for
c. and then hit Update DataSet

After following the recommendation to update and train the dataset, I noticed the Alpaca Dataset did not return any data. Now I am beginning to think if I need to "repair" a connection to Alpaca.

Anyway I created an alternative dataset using Qdata, and seen that all data came in as planned. I adjusted the strategy to use this dataset but still received the same error as before no host found.

Do you guys manage to get COPP data using a dataset from Alpaca?

Did Alpaca connect successfully?
What does the Log Viewer (Ctrl+L) have for Alpaca events?

By the way, if your not paying for Alpaca data, it's not really good data to test and trade with. You can use it for "practicing" though.
Please read All About WealthLab Intraday and Realtime Data Providers - see the Alpaca section.

There is a few errors yes! Whats funny is that it shows that Alpaca is connected but says another connection may exist. Is it possible to have duplicate links / connections?

If you have 2 machines you need to disable connecting to Alpaca with one of them. Alpaca won't support multiple simultaneous connections.

And, each day, you should restart WealthLab to refresh a broker connection.

Solution found.

Cant explain exactly but I did quick reinstall and restart, this solved the issue. Connection to Alpaca is running and strategy is activated.

Thank you Cone, Glitch and Eugene for kindly assisting! :)
