Hi
I have been using WL for about 15 years and LOVE it. I use it almost daily.
I am still on WL6 as am so busy I haven't had time to try and learn WL7.
I now see WL8 is out.
Can I easily transfer systems from WL6 to WL8? Or should I go from WL6 to WL7, then to WL8?
If I have trouble (I am not an expert coder) changing my approximately 20 coded systems to WL8 ones, can anyone help (for free or a fee?:))?
Thanks and kind regards
Rod

Hi Rod,

Thank you for being a loyal customer. It's been 18 years since you ordered WLD3. Wow!

Generally, strategies can be ported to WL6 without serious effort but not automatically. Hints are already built in the final build of WL6 which you appear to be using. These two posts contain essential info on migrating code- and Rule- based strategies to the new WL: https://www.wealth-lab.com/Discussion/Quick-WL6-9-to-WL7-Translation-Guide-5548

Note that the strategy's workflow is different from WL6, giving you more control - https://www.wealth-lab.com/blog/anatomy-of-a-wl7-strategy Migration wise, WL7 should be skipped. And you could save time on having to learn about those minor differences in syntax WL7 > WL8.

We'll be pleased to help you with the migration so fire away - I'm sure you'll have questions!

Awesome, thanks. You and Cone are champions. How did you know it was 18 years? Goodness me! Time flies! I hope you have lots of subscribers and are making tonnes of money because you deserve it.

Thanks for the tips and offer to help! I will try this weekend or next. I am sure I will have specific questions once I begin. Do you want the questions posted publicly? I presume so, so others can benefit.

Thanks and regards
Rod

Hi. Is there an easy way to move datasets, incl. both Yahoo and CSV datasets, from WL6 to WL8, please?
Thanks and regards

No. WL7 DataSets can be ported automatically using the Migration Tool (https://www.wealth-lab.com/blog/Migrating) but not so from WL6. It's a whole new domain.
