I am not sure what exactly caused it, but I can no longer see "[ms] Long-Term Debt", "[ms] Total Liabilities" and possibly other balance sheet parameters when I try to plot them on a chart. I can see other fundamental parameters from MS such as "[ms] Inventory Turnover". The only thing that I did is to install Nasdaq Data Provider, which installed with no problems but ran very slowly when updating, downloading 0 fundamental data for each security, forcing me to shut down WL from the task manager window. Since then, I unchecked Nasdaq from the fundamental data provider list in the data manager, updated several times the Morningstar data, I even installed Morningstar extension again. But nothing could bring back those balance sheet parameters.

Is it possible that Nasdaq and Morningstar extensions collide with each other? Is there a way to uninstall Nasdaq extension? I have read uninstall instructions, but the Extension Manager doesn't even show either Nasdaq or Morningstar extensions installed. All I see is
- ASCII file static
- WL4 files static
- Yahoo finance static

I found how to uninstall Nasdaq Data provider (changed to "Other extensions" in the Extension Manager). After Nasdaq extensions was uninstalled, WL rebooted, and data updated, I still cannot seethe balance sheet parameters of the Morningstar data. But I can see all other paraneters. I am not even using any strategy. I just use charts. What could have happened? How can I see the balance sheet parameters like "[ms] Long-Term Debt"?

Thanks for reporting this. The provider has broken due to a couple of internal changes at Nasdaq website. I will fix it in upcoming build v2018.04 but the ability to display short interest for AMEX and NYSE stocks is now lost (if it ever existed of which I'm not sure). Just added a note to its online manual.

By the way, I checked it not too long ago and the provider was working. This is the price to pay for screen scraping the free data.

As the developer of both extensions the answer is: definitely no.

Don't do it. When you read the instruction what was the highlighted sentence in bold red saying?

This age-old confusion is caused by a Fidelity decision to mark extensions as Fidelity supported and Other. You'll find explanation how to show Other extensions in the Wealth-Lab User Guide.

Rule of thumb: when you have a problem, please explain it clearly, with as many facts as you can think of, and possibly attach a screenshot to illustrate what you're seeing. "Can no longer see" may be read as an eyesight problem. What you should be saying for the technician to understand you is probably "the item is a flat line i.e. its value is always 0".

However, I don't think this is an issue at all. If said items are plotted as 0:

1. Some stocks just do not have Debt.
2. For some fundamental items of certain symbols, Morningstar may not return the correct value so you'd see a 0. Switch to other symbols to make sure it works.
3. Finally, if you opened the chart window before updating the fundamental data I recommend to close it and reopen before viewing it: Open Issues > (177409) Fundamental items plotted before acquiring the data can't be refreshed until the chart is reopened

I've just looked in the raw data and actually it's a "#2.5" or let's call it option #4:

4. Morningstar returns void (not a valid value) for a number of fundamental items for all stocks. This is how it looks in the data:

QUOTE:
Accounts Payable,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false
Short-Term Debt,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false
Taxes Payable,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false
Accrued Liabilities,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false
Other Short-Term Liabilities,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false
Total Current Liabilities,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false
Long-Term Debt,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false
Other Long-Term Liabilities,,,,,,,,,,,
Total Liabilities,,,,,,,,,,,
Total Stockholders' Equity,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false,false

No wonder you "can no longer see" these items. So, nothing for me and you to worry about. It's an issue on their end (e.g. with their data feed). Case closed.

OK. Thanks. I'll check tomorrow if they fixed it.

The ASCII data export is free as in beer so I won't be that optimistic regarding tomorrow. ;) Fingers crossed.

It looks like Morningstar continues to report "False" for the balance sheet data in their key ratios csv files. But the balance sheet files show valid numbers. I am reading how to access data from internet on the fly here. But, if someone could show how to modify the code to download the file from here , find "long-term debt" and extract the last column data, I will take it from there.

I leave this DIY excercise up to you while you're waiting for the website fix. Have you already contacted Morningstar about the omissions in their ASCII data?

Don't forget that we've got more fundamental providers: Fidelity, YCharts, StockPup, and Zacks (part of Quandl suite).

April 2020: StockPup fundamental provider decommissioned, feed taken offline.

This issue has been fixed. Summary of changes in Nasdaq extension v2018.04:

* Fix: fundamental provider returns 0 items due to internal changes at Nasdaq website
* Change: fundamental provider output broken down by category (X dividend / Y short interest items updated)
* Change: (internal) user agent change
